Affordability Programs

Energy CENTS Coalition administers Xcel Energy's POWER On and Gas Affordability Programs and Greater Minnesota Gas' Gas Affordability Program

The programs are designed to:

  • make utility bills more affordable

  • encourage customers to make consistent payments

  • lower the costs associated with the utility's attempts to collect payments from customers with limited resources

Family Together
POWER ON/Gas Affordability Program

For households that pay Xcel Energy for Electricity or Natural Gas (or both).

You must receive a grant from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to qualify.

Medical Electric Affordability Program

For households that pay Xcel Energy for electricity AND have medical equipment in their home the uses electricity.  You must have a medical form on file with Xcel to qualify.

Greater MN Gas Affordability Program

For households that pay Greater Minnesota Gas for Natural Gas.  You must receive a grant from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to qualify.

To qualify for utility affordability programs you must first receive a grant from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  For more information about the Energy Assistance Program and to find the service provider for your area, click here.
