The devastating presence of federal occupation in our community has caused many of our neighbors to shelter at home. As a result, many have been unable to work and the businesses that serve those communities have seen foot traffic drop. Now, with utility bills coming due, families across the State are scrambling to find a way to make ends meet.
The Energy CENTS Coalition, in partnership with the Citizens Utility Board of Minnesota, has established the Lights On, Homes Warm Fund which provides immediate relief to ensure that these families are able to stay current on their bills. Please contribute today to help us meet this urgent need.
Please note that there are legal protections in place under Minnesota's Cold Weather Rule, as well, to help utility customers avoid disconnection during the coldest months of the year. More information on these protections can be found on the Public Utilities Commission website.
The Energy CENTS Coalition is a St. Paul-based 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to promote affordable utility service for low- and fixed-income Minnesotans.
Please direct any questions regarding fundraiser logistics to ECC's Executive Director, George Shardlow, at george@energycents.org.
