Our Advocacy Priorities

What Matters to Us

Every Minnesotan should be able to afford their basic needs. For too many low-income residents, the cost of energy burdens their household budgets and keeps them locked in poverty. We work every day to fight for safe, affordable and reliable utility service for all Minnesotans.

Our Focus Issues

Affordability

All Minnesotans have a right to utility service they can afford. ECC advocates for investments in energy assistance to help lower the percent of their income that low- and fixed-income Minnesotans spend on utilities.

Weatherization

The best way to lower an energy bill is to lower energy consumption. ECC advocates for investment in energy efficiency upgrades for low-income residential utility customers to help them save money and lower their environmental footprint.

Reduce Energy

Just Transition

As Minnesota transitions to 100% Carbon Free energy, ECC is fighting for a just transition. To us, a just transition is one that keeps low-income customers' utility bills low, provides workforce opportunities to underserved communities, and finds the most cost-effective path to a clean energy future. We believe that the regulatory model that helped us access energy before will be the one to move us forward.
